    Pregnancy Week by Week

When you become pregnant you will experience a number of different changes. This pregnancy week by week guide will explain everything on what will happen during this process.

    The First Few Weeks

The first week of pregnancy will start at the beginning of a menstrual period. An egg in the ovaries should be released on the fourteenth day. A sperm will combine with the egg during the third week of the pregnancy. This will occur inside the fallopian tube. The chromosomes of the baby will begin to be formed here.

    Weeks Four and Five

The fetus should implant itself into the body. The nervous system and organs of the baby will begin to develop at this point. During this time period you may experience a late period. Morning sickness should also be expected.

    Weeks Six to Twelve

At this time in the pregnancy week by week process the baby’s heart will begin beating. The organs and limbs will also start to develop. Morning sickness symptoms should decline but blood volume levels will increase. This can cause veins to become noticeable.

    Weeks Thirteen to Fifteen

Week thirteen is the first week in the second trimester. Various bodily functions will begin to work for the fetus. The bones will grow but the skin will still be very thin. The woman’s abdomen should begin to feel sore as the fetus grows in size. The ligaments around the uterus will also expand.

    Week Sixteen

The baby’s genitals should be visible through an ultrasound at this point in the pregnancy week by week process. This can be used to figure out what the baby’s gender will be. Your blood volume will also increase by about fifty percent of what it was before the pregnancy. This can cause the heart to work at a harder rate in order to support the fetus.

    Weeks Seventeen to Twenty-Seven

The uterus will expand in its size. Various small parts of the baby should develop at this point. The movements of the baby can be felt at this point. Leg cramps will become common since the baby will be absorbing the calcium that the mother should be getting.

    Week Twenty-Eight

The third trimester of the pregnancy week by week process begins here. A working mother-to-be should consider getting into maternity leave at this point. Constant pains and swelling in the body will more than likely occur at this point.

    Weeks Twenty-Nine to Thirty-Four

The baby’s growth should begin to slow down during this stage. Contractions may also begin at this point in the pregnancy. A woman may also be at least fifteen pounds heavier than she was before becoming pregnant.

    Weeks Thirty-Five to Forty

This is the last part of the pregnancy week by week guide. You should be ready to give birth at any moment. The baby should begin to learn to breathe at this point. Vaginal discharges will more than likely increase too. Also, the cervix will need to be checked in order to see that a natural birth can occur.
